Part-Time News Reporter-

Priority Communications (Sunny 106 and Connect FM) is a fun, fast-paced and creative place to spend your work day.

We're looking for an eager go-getter to get started in the news world and join our team of professionals.

Major Responsibilities of This Position:

Weekend news

• Come to the radio station to write and record weekend news, which will take a few hours in the early morning on both Saturday and Sunday

• Start work at the radio station offices in DuBois each Saturday and Sunday no later than 5 a.m.

• Gather news sources, write news copy, and record a 2-minute newscast by 6 a.m.

• Gathering news from a variety of sources, including interviews, police reports, court dockets, community events, etc.

• News must be factual, clear, relevant, interesting and meaningful to listeners

             • News must meet our journalistic integrity and production quality

             • Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

Possibility of covering weekday evening meeting :

Meeting could include council/school board/community events

Must be able to present Sunny 106 and Connect FM in a positive way when interacting with community members

                           • Will bring a short written synopsis of the meeting and recorded audio soundbite

           Proven ability to ask for the business and the courage to ask again

                          • Many of the specific skills (such as using the recording equipment) can be taught.

Desired Skills and Experience:

A natural curiosity – genuinely wanting

A drive to “get it right” – being factual and unbiased

Writing skills – using correct spelling and grammar, while also making the news story accurate yet interesting

Ability to talk with just about anyone and interview them

Listening skills

Curating news – deciding which stories are relevant to listeners and paring down complicated stories into shorter 2-minute newscasts

This is an entry-level position that would make a good start to a broadcasting or journalism career.

Sales Professional -

Priority Communications (Sunny 106 and Connect FM) is a fun, fast-paced and creative place to spend your work day.

We're looking for a confident self-starter to join our team of professionals.

Major Responsibilities of This Position:

Developing new advertising clients through a drive to generate and retain customers

• Face to face meetings with prospective clients

• Working directly with business owners and decision makers

• Creating advertising campaigns for your clients that are focused on their marketing needs

• Developing strong relationships with clients to ensure success and repeat business

• Closing business and executing your client’s campaign as agreed upon

             • Coordinating all aspects of an advertising campaign

Desired Skills and Experience:

Excellent listening skills and strong curiosity to learn about your clients’ businesses

Ability to see a problem as an opportunity to help

                           • An understanding of marketing principles and a creative mind to put together unique ideas for our clients

           Proven ability to ask for the business and the courage to ask again

                          • Outside sales experience with a track record of successfully prospecting and developing new business is a plus

Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
