Fugitive of the Week Captured

Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced the
capture of a wanted fugitive. Shaw identified the
Fugitive as Nicholas Joseph Peo, age 38, of East Logan Avenue, Altoona,
Pennsylvania. Peo was added to the
Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on June 2, 2014.
On April 26, 2014,
Officer David Scott Johnson of the Sandy Township Police Department, filed a
Criminal Complaint charging Peo with Retail Theft, F3, 2 Counts.
An Affidavit of Probable
Cause filed by Officer Johnson states that on February 21, 2014, the Sandy
Township Police Department received a report of several thefts from businesses
located in Sandy Township. Upon investigation it was found that Peo had
unlawfully removed items from multiple stores, then sold the items at a pawn
shop in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. The stolen items were valued at approximately
A Preliminary Hearing
was scheduled for May 23, 2014, at which time Peo failed to appear and a
warrant was issued for his arrest.
Shaw stated that an
anonymous tip to the Clearfield County Crime Stoppers provided the location of
Peo. On June 3, 2014, Deputies from the Clearfield County Sheriff's
Office apprehended Peo in Altoona, Pennsylvania and he was taken into custody
without incident. Peo is currently lodged in the Clearfield County jail.
Shaw thanked the
Clearfield County Sheriff's Office for their assistance with this case.
