Community Days Begins today!
June 13, 2014
DuBOIS- “I think its great that the Fire Department gives something back to the community and vice versa. The community gives back to the Fire Department.” Firehouse Pizzeria is new to DuBois and owner Jim Whited said he thinks this is great event.

Fire House pizza is donating pizzas to the women’s auxiliary of the Friendship Hose company and they are donating part of what they make during community days to the Fire department.

They will have their fire truck in the parade along with their mascot dog Spotty who will give candy out to the kids.

Everyone has a favorite part of community days. Councilwoman Dianne Bernardo says she is looking forward to the Fireman’s Platter. Our Facebook fans told us some of the things they can’t wait for.

  • Christine Kefurt said, “The parade and fireworks!!!”
  • Nikki Bohensky said, “Parade, fireworks, food, deep fried Oreos, candy being tossed from firemen, deep fried Oreos, cool acts on the stage and deep fried Oreos.” When asked to share the Oreos he said, “Some things I share and deep fried Oreos ain't one of them.”
  • Lisa Lengen said, “Hot sausage sandwich from Palumbos”
  • Mary Chesnoka said, “EVERYTHING-GETTING OUT OF THE HOUSE!!!!!!!!”
  • Jennie Mitchell said, “Being with family and enjoying the festivities!!!”

If you don’t have a favorite yet, there is something new every year.

Councilman Jim Aughenbaugh wanted to say thank you to everyone to the committee who makes community days possible. “Community Days is always a successful event in the City of DuBois.  My hat goes off to the group of people that put this together because it’s a lot of hard work that usually starts right after Community Days is done and they start preparing for the next year. They do a great job and every year it gets bigger and better. Look for another successful community days this year.”
