Elk County District Attorney Threatened

June 25, 2014- Jessica Illuzzi
PUNXSUTAWNEY- A man made threatening phone calls to Elk County District Attorney Shawn Timothy McMahon. Punxsutawney state police say 41 year old Christopher Thomas made several threatening phone calls on June 17th between 5:30pm and 8:45 pm.

Police say Thomas made the threats because he was upset about an arson conviction in 2009, despite the fact that McMahon was not the DA at the time. Thomas was served 5 years in state prison after being convicted of causing a 2008 fire at 819 Elm St. in Weedville.

Police said Thomas also called people involved in his criminal case, including an Elk County judge, state police fire marshal Greg Agosti and the DA’s office then held by McMahon’s predecessor, Bradley J. Kraus.

Thomas was arrested by Punxsutawney state police and taken to elk county prison. This is a joint investigation with the Pennsylvania State Police and the Office of the Attorney General. The Attorney General’s office will prosecute the case because District Attorney McMahon is a witness.
