New School Zone Signs in DuBois

July 16, 2014
DUBOIS- PennDOT alerts motorists to a change in roadway signage that will take place next week in the city of DuBois.

School Zone signs will be placed on Route 219 (Liberty Boulevard) and Beaver Drive near the DuBois Area Middle School. The signs were requested by DuBois City and DuBois Area School District. A traffic study was conducted by PennDOT to allow for placement of the signs.

Starting this school year, motorists traveling through the School Zone during the posted times will be required to reduce their speed.

Pennsylvania law states that the speed limit in an established School Zone is 15 miles per hour. The reduced speed limit is enforceable by police during the times listed on official traffic-control signs. The 15-mile-per-hour speed limit is in effect until a motorist reaches the “End School Zone” sign.

A School Zone slows traffic at a school to increase the safety of students as they arrive at and leave the property.
