Incident of Assault Leads to Homicide Charges

SLIGO - A Sligo man has been charged with criminal homicide. Fifty-four-year old James Shimmons was charged in the death of 79-year-old Cloyd Shimmons, also of Sligo. According to reports, Cloyd Simmons was involved in an incident on Colerain Street in Sligo on July 15th and as a result was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital where he later died. Following an autopsy and under the advisement of the Clarion County District Attorney's office, criminal homicide charges were filed against James Shimmons, along with charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and terroristic threats. James Shimmons is being held without bail at the Clarion County Jail awaiting a preliminary hearing.
