Area Woman Charged in Child Drowning

IRVONA - An Irvona woman was charged with involuntary manslaughter after a three year old child drowned in Mahoning creek while in her care. The incident happened back in May of 2011. State police report that after an extensive investigation with the county district attorney's office, 31-year-old Cindy Oneill was determined to be watching the three year old who was left unattended and walked into the Mahoning creek behind a home on Lane Avenue in Punxsutawney. Oneil was taken into custody yesterday. Bail was set at $100 thousand dollars cash bond. She's currently in Jefferson County
jail. In addition, 42 year old Scott Cary was charged with one count of recklessly endangering another person in connection to the incident.
