A Johnsonburg Couple Behind Bars for Child Neglect

JOHNSONBURG - A Johnsonburg pastor and his wife have been accused of child neglect. Forty-two year old Mark Hooper and 40-year-old Susan Hooper allegedly withheld food from their 9-year-old adopted daughter numerous times over a two year period. Police say the girl was homeschooled and when her math was not completed correctly; her mother would withhold food and would not let her go to the bathroom. Police say a physical exam was conducted on the girl in late February, which found that the girl weighed 31 pounds and had a bone age of a 5-year-old. The Hooper couple was charged with endangering the welfare of children.
