BROCKWAY -Brockway school directors last night approved an agreement for managing the district's teacher evaluation process. The district will work with EduLink, Inc. on the state-mandated Pennsylvania Electronic Teacher Evaluation Portal, otherwise known as PAETEP. According to Superintendent Dan Hawkins, PAETEP will involve administrators spending more time with teachers doing pre-observations, regular observations and walk throughs. Hawkins said that while it will be good for staff in showing where their strengths are and how to build on their strengths, it will mostly benefit students and education through Pennsylvania. The board accepted the low bid for the district's roofing, sidewalk and curb replacement projects totaling over $300,000, amended its Special Education Plan to add a life skills program for elementary students and set Friday, May 24 as the date for this year's commencement. Also approved were prices for the district's food service program next year. The cost of breakfast, lunch and milk will all remain the same as this year. The board also recognized the DuBois Area Council on the Arts on their donation of $1,500 for three $500 scholarships for any graduating senior residing in the DuBois or Brockway area school districts who plans to attend college majoring in visual arts. The scholarships are in honor of Dr. George Nye.
