House Ablaze in Johnsonburg

Tuesday, May 07, 2013
JOHNSONBERG - There were no injuries in a Johnsonburg house fire yesterday morning.  Crews were called out to the home of Carla Geer just after 11am.  Authorities say the blaze began in an exterior wall and spread from near the foundation up to the attic.  A nail had been previously driven into an electrical conductor, and over time the copper wire melted to the nail and transferred the heat into the wood wall frame.  Damages are estimated at $75,000.
