Inmates Allowed to Marry
Friday, May 10, 2013
ELK COUNTY - Getting married is now an
option at the Elk County prison after board members approved an inmate marriage
policy this week. Barring any security
risks, inmates will be allowed to marry while they are incarcerated. Wedding arrangements will be left up to the
inmate and their spouse, including finding someone to officiate the ceremony
and payment for the marriage license.
The short ceremonies will take place in the prison library. Following the nuptials, inmates will be
returned to their cells.
