City Council and Fire Chief Thank Everyone for Working Together After the Flood

DUBOIS- DuBois City Council and the Fire Chief John Emerick took the time to thank
the numerous agencies that came together during and after the Flood disaster to
help the area at yesterday’s meeting.
Fire Chief Emerick said everything went so seamlessly
because so many agencies worked together as quickly as possible and all gave
extra time and effort. Emerick had a long list of organizations to thank including ; Treasure lake and Sandy Township boat 35 Falls Creek boat 4 Curwensville boat 8 and the Clarion Fire Department boast team. In total the boat teams rescued 51 people.He also thanked Penelec, National fuel gas, Red Cross, Salvation Army, City of DuBois Street Department and Steve Swope, DuBois City Police, the Ambulance companies, Clearfield 911 Center and Penn State building Inspections for all their help.
Also during the meeting the council announced they are
trying to gather the funds needed to demolish the Downtown Dollar general which
caught fire in March 2012 without putting the 100,00 burden on the tax payers.
Herm Suplizio said they are applying for grants with the help of Lisa Kuvaliak.
An AED was donated to the city by the Connor cares
foundation and is being placed at the city pool. All the lifeguards will be
trained to use the defibrillator.
While the AED is paid for there will be a Chinese auction after the unveiling
noon Sunday July 14 to raise money to donate one of these life saving machines
to someone else who needs it.
