DUBOIS- Former Steeler cornerback, 4 time super bowl participant and
winner and Hall of Famer Mel Blount spoke at the DuBois United Way Kickoff
yesterday at the DuBois country club.
Blount spoke about his family and faith which have inspired
him to be part of organizations like the United Way and help others. He said
that the turn out alone shows that the area will reach its goal of $430,000.
“I think the leadership from herm (Suplizio) and all the business
leaders I think they’ll be able to reach their goal and even surpass it. There
are great people hear today and I can tell from the atmosphere and the comments
that they are going to go out and make it happen. The United Way is a great organization
and they are doing a lot of great things all over the country. Every community
benefits from having an organization like the united way.” Blount said.
United Way executive director Herm Suplizio said that this
year it is more important than ever to donate and become involved.
“It’s that time of year again. We are kicking off the 2014 United
Way campaign and we need everyone’s help. Especially this year we have had some
disasters in the community especially the flood we had. We are going to need
help from everyone so please chip in and do your part.” Suplizio said.
Even just educating others about the United Way can help
make a difference.
