University of Pennsylvania Graduates Class of
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - An animal training
center inspired by canine rescue work on 9/11 is graduating its first class of
University of Pennsylvania's Working Dog Center held a commencement ceremony
Tuesday for a yellow Labrador retriever named Socks.
canine is going to work for the campus police force performing duties including
animals in the class will be working as medical alert dogs or on urban
search-and-rescue teams. They gave demonstrations of their search skills and
showed off their agility on an obstacle course.
Working Dog Center, which is part of Penn's veterinary school, began training
puppies in Philadelphia on Sept. 11, 2012
named after dogs who worked at ground zero during the terrorist attacks in
