Brookville Money Dispute
December 4, 2013- John Pozza
BROOKVILLE- Brookville Council last night denied a request from the fire department to transfer money to the department being held in escrow by the borough. The Brookville Fire Company, the department's fund raising entity, previously asked the borough to hold $55,000 in a separate account toward the purchase of a new $1 million plus fire truck.

While council's denial of the request came with a split vote, borough manager Chuck Gable said the outcome of pending litigation between the fire company and the fire department itself will ultimately determine which of the two parties gets the money.

Council did approve leasing the former school district administration building to the fire department for training and office use. Under the lease, the fire department would be responsible for maintaining the building.

Council also approved advertising the borough's 2014 budget. The budget totals nearly $1.9 million but does not include a tax increase.
