Brookville Moving Foreward

Brookville Moving Foreward

February 5, 2014- John Pozza
BROOKVILLE-Brookville Council hosted the first of its quarterly public forums last night to gather input on moving Brookville forward. The forum was introduced by Councilman Steve Hoak in council's larger community room.
Given the impending snowstorm, council was pleased with the number of people attending and offering ideas. Brookville is seeking input on ways to bring new residents and business to the borough. In the last census Brookville's population dropped to less than 4,000, causing the borough to lose its status as an entitlement community and receiving annual community development block grant funding used for improving the borough's infrastructure.

Council did receive some positive news on the state's new Transportation Bill. Over a five year period, Brookville will see an increase of nearly $72,000 in liquid fuels funding. The money is used to maintain borough roads.
