February 13, 2014
REYNOLDSVILLE – PennDOT and its project contractor, HRI, Inc., were recently awarded an Asphalt Pavement Quality Award from the Pennsylvania Asphalt Pavement Association (PAPA) for their resurfacing project on Route 310 in Reynoldsville Borough and Winslow Township, Jefferson County.

According to PAPA, the annual Asphalt Pavement Quality Award increases the focus on quality asphalt pavements. Projects are evaluated on smoothness of ride, quality of pavement mix, joint and mat construction and innovative features. Projects selected promote the goal of outstanding pavement construction which best exemplifies the use of asphalt quality control and placement technology for the advancement of highway safety and long-term pavement performance.

The project included updating drainage, patching, and paving 2.9 miles of Route 310 from Route 322 in Reynoldsville Borough to T-661 (Chips Road) in Winslow Township. This $1.18 million preventative maintenance project was constructed by HRI and was completed the end of September.

Paul F. Koza, Jr., P. E., Assistant District Executive for Construction, said, “PennDOT and HRI worked together to deliver a project that provides a smooth, safe pavement for the travelling public.”
