Local Schools to Host Financial Aid Completion Sessions

February 21, 2014
There are two upcoming Financial Aid Completion Sessions for district high school students and their families, according to Senator Joe Scarnati (R-Jefferson).

Scarnati said those attending will receive help with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online. The FAFSA is required to qualify for most student aid programs, including the Pennsylvania State Grant, the Federal Pell Grant, institutional awards and low-cost federal student and parent loans.

A student aid expert from the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) will be available at the Financial Aid Nights to assist students with completing the online application during the sessions.

“This is an excellent opportunity for students and their parents to receive assistance with completing the FAFSA and gain a better understanding of the student aid process and how to begin planning to fund their higher education,” Scarnati said. “In addition to completing the online application, participants attending the sessions can learn about Pennsylvania-specific aid programs, as well as the importance of searching for scholarships and other awards to pay for education costs.”
