Fire at the DuBois Country Club

February 24, 2014- Jessica Illuzzi
DuBOIS- Police noticed flames coming from the DuBois Country Club around 2 am this morning. As of 5:30 this morning the fire was under control and firefighters were working on a few remaining hotspots.
Flames were coming through the roof of the building causing it to cave in. Employees were removing golf equipment from the pro-shop behind the Country Club while firefighters battled the flames but it seems to be intact.
The cause of the fire and extent of the damage are still undetermined.

DuBois Fire Chief John Emerick said when they first arrived they tried to put the fire out from inside the building but had to evacuate and attack the fire from outside as conditions got worse.

Chief Emerick said, “When we arrived fire was coming through the roof of the building. Within minutes of our arrival we tried to make an interior attack, the conditions got bad, the roof started coming in and we went to an exterior attack on the building.”

Three firemen were treated for minor injuries. Two were treated on scene and one was taken to the hospital and has since been released. The State Police Fire Marshall was on the scene and they will begin investigating the cause this morning.
