CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr. identified the Fugitive of the week as James Edward O’Dell, age 47, of Turnpike Avenue, Clearfield, Pennsylvania. O'Dell turned himself in shortly after being added to the the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on February 25, 2014.

On June 10, 2013, Officer Jon Walker of the Lawrence Township Police Department, filed a Criminal Complaint charging O’Dell with: 1) Computer Trespass, F3, 27 Counts; 2) Theft By Deception, M1, 27 Counts; 3) Retail Theft, M2; 4) Access Device Fraud, M1, 27 Counts; 5) Tampering With Records or Identification, M1; and 6) Theft By Unlawful Taking, M1, 27 Counts.

An Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by Officer Walker states that on May 23, 2013, Officers from the Lawrence Township Police Department were dispatched to a Clearfield business for a report of a theft. Upon investigation it was found that O’Dell, an employee of the business, had been fraudulently making false refunds and crediting his bank account with the money from those returns. It was determined that O’Dell unlawfully obtained approximately $1,380.12 from the false refunds. Additionally, it was found that O’Dell had stolen merchandise and services from the store which were valued at approximately $463.49.

A Preliminary Hearing was scheduled for July 17, 2013, at which time all charges were held for Court. On January 30, 2014, O’Dell failed to appear for Pretrial Conferences and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Shaw stated that on February 25, 2014, O’Dell voluntarily surrendered himself to Deputies from the Clearfield County Sheriff's Office.
