Captured –Brandon Sass

CLEARFIELD – Thanks to an anonymous tip to the Clearfield County Crime Stoppers the Fugitiveof the week, Brandon Scott Sass, age 23, of Susquehanna Avenue, Hyde was captured.

Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced that an anonymous tip to the Clearfield County Crime Stoppers provided the location of Sass. On March 26, 2014, Deputies from the Clearfield County Sheriff's Office apprehended Sass and he was taken into custody without incident. Sass is currently lodged in the Clearfield County jail.

Sass was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on March 24, 2014. 

On August 20, 2013, Chief David R. Johnston of the Curwensville Borough Police Department, filed a Criminal Complaint charging Sass with: 1) Access Device Fraud, F3, 3 Counts; 2) Receiving Stolen Property, M1, 4 Counts; and 3) Access Device Fraud, M3, 4 Counts.

An Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by Chief Johnston states that on August 7, 2012, the Curwensville Borough Police Department received a report of the theft of several personal checks. Upon investigation it was found that Sass had unlawfully cashed three of the victim’s checks, and had received approximately $2,419.78. It was also found that Sass had attempted to cash a fourth check but was denied by the bank. 

A Preliminary Hearing was scheduled for October 23, 2013, at which time all charges were held for Court. On March 20, 2014, Sass failed to appear at Criminal Call and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Shaw thanked the Clearfield County Sheriff's Office for their assistance with this case.
