FOW Turns Himself in

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced the fugitive of the week Kody Clayton
Best, age 20, of Daisy Street, Clearfield, turned himself in.
Best was added to the Clearfield County
Fugitive of the Week list on April 14, 2014.
On November 20, 2013, Patrolman Nathan Curry
of the Clearfield Borough Police Department, filed a Criminal Complaint
charging Best with: 1) Theft From a Motor Vehicle, M1; 2) Receiving Stolen
Property, M1; and 3) Criminal Conspiracy, M1.
An Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by
Patrolman Curry states that on October 31, 2013, the Clearfield Borough Police
Department received a report of a theft from a motor vehicle that was located
on West 6th Avenue, Clearfield Borough. Upon investigation it was
found that Best and two other individuals had unlawfully entered the victim’s
vehicle and removed items valued at approximately $289.00. It was also found the Best and the two
individuals had broken into several others vehicles that were located in
A Preliminary Hearing was scheduled for
January 22, 2014, at which time all charges were held for Court. On April 8,
2014, Best failed to appear for Plea and Sentencing Court and a warrant was
issued for his arrest.
Shaw stated that on April 15, 2014, Best
voluntarily surrendered himself to Deputies from the Clearfield County
Sheriff's Office. Best is currently lodged in the Clearfield County jail.
Shaw thanked the Clearfield County Sheriff's
Office for their assistance with this case.
