Graduation Ceremonies for the Class of 2020

DuBois Area School District

DuBois, PA – Graduation for DuBois Area High School has tentatively been scheduled for Friday, May 29, and we’ll be broadcasting it on Sunny 106 so everyone can celebrate and enjoy the ceremony safely!

The speeches and performances will be prerecorded with equipment and services offered by Tri-County Church.

Then, after caps and gowns arrived, the graduates and their immediate families can meet at either Mansell Stadium or (if it rains) the middle school to be filmed having their name announced, walking across the field or stage, and receiving their diploma.

These will be done in 10-minute intervals, to adhere to the social distancing guidelines.

The goal is to film all parts of the graduation ceremony separately in advance by May 18, which will then be compiled together as one virtual ceremony virtual by Brennan Bell from Tri-County Church.

Then on May 29, starting at 6:30 p.m., graduates will meet in their vehicles in the high school parking lot for a planned driving parade. The parade starts at 7pm. Learn more here.

We’ll be broadcasting that live graduation ceremony on Sunny 106 on May 29, as the students watch the pre-recorded video from their cars at the DuBois Area High School parking lot starting at 9:15-9:30pm.

You can listen to the ceremony along with them on the radio and feel pride in our DuBois Class of 2020 who have accomplished so much under new and difficult circumstances.

DuBois Central Catholic Schools

DuBois, PA — DuBois Central Catholic School is hoping to hold a traditional graduation, with perhaps a couple of adjustments for social distancing.

DCC President Gretchen Caruso says, because their Class of 2020 has just 30 students, a traditional ceremony is more feasible for them than it would be for other larger school systems.

However, this ceremony would not be open to the public and would be limited to just students and their immediate family.

Graduation weekend is tentatively scheduled for June 6 and 7, with Baccalaureate Mass that Saturday and the graduation ceremony on Sunday.

Updated: DuBois Central Catholic seniors in the Class of 2020 will wall the halls of DCC one last time as students today.

It’s especially meaningful because some of them have been in that same DCC school building since preschool, for 15 years.

Some adjustments have to made for social distancing. For example, since students aren’t actually having class in the building, this means that it will just be the Class of 2020 walking the halls, with teachers standing at the doorways instead of the entire school watching and cheering them on.

The seniors will also be wearing handmade masks in Cardinal colors.

Parents will be able to stand outside the building and show their support from a safe distance.

Because the DCC Class of 2020 has just 30 students, they’re hoping to be able to still hold some sort of in-person graduation ceremony the weekend of June 6 and 7 with proper social distancing precautions taken.
