DuBois, PA – The fire department in the new City of DuBois will look a lot different after consolidation. Nine hose houses will become five and there will be some paid positions made available. Third Ward, Friendship, and Sandy Hose House on Dixon Avenue will remain while two new facilities will be built. One will be built on Maple Avenue and the other one near Treasure Lake on Route 255.
One woman in the audience at yesterday’s Consolidation meeting voiced her concern regarding extra equipment.
Committee Chair, Herm Suplizio, said sub-committees looked at all of that and determined what they need and where. Some equipment and buildings will be sold off to pay for the new facilities. The plan is awaiting final approval by committees.
