TREASURE LAKE — Electric service to the Treasure Lake community in Sandy Township is being upgraded with the installation of nearly two miles of underground utility lines.
Penelec crews started the installation project in January and hope to have it completed by April. Penelec spokesman Todd Meyers said the new underground power lines will be more reliable since they are protected inside of PVC pipe. Meyers said the pipe will prevent water and other things from causing outages.
The new utility lines are replacing the original lines that were installed in the 1970s along Treasure Lake’s Coral Reef Road.
