HARRISBURG — A new year is coming, and so are higher gas taxes in Pennsylvania.
Gas wholesalers in the Commonwealth will see the per gallon tax rate they pay increase from 58 cents to over 61 cents on January 1st. The 3.5-cents jump will likely be reflected in the price you pay at the pumps.
The increase is being triggered under the terms of a state transportation law signed in 2013. There will also be an increase in Pennsylvania’s tax on diesel which will now top 78.5 cents per gallon.
