Sandy Twp. – The Sandy Township Supervisors voted to advertise a new ticketing ordinance that deals with high grass, garbage and animal-at-large complaints at their meeting last night.
The current ordinance gives residents 30 days to cut their grass before they file with the magistrate, but the new ordinance will encourage fines rather than court hearings.
Sandy Township Manager Shawn Arbaugh said he is hopeful this ticketing ordinance limits these issues while keeping fines to a minimum. In an unanimous vote, the Supervisors approved the ordinance.
However, they said they are considering reducing the current maximum grass length of 24 inches in the future.
DuBois – The topic of fireworks dominated the DuBois City Council meeting Monday night.
Councilwoman Shannon Gabriel and City Manager Herm Suplizio said they have received numerous complaints about fireworks being set off day and night.
Council members discovered that the state is revamping the fireworks law, and a municipality cannot draft an ordinance with stronger restrictions.
Fireworks will be prohibited before 10 am and after 10 pm with the exception of July 2nd through July 4th, and December 31st. Those days, fireworks will be allowed until 1 am.
Council suggested that if fireworks are heard outside those day and time limitations, to then contact the police.
