2018 is a midterm election year. That means it takes place two years after the last presidential election (2016). Mid-term elections are significant because about one-third of all U.S. Senators (who serve six-year terms) are up for re-election and every member of the U.S. House of Representatives (who serve two-year terms) is up for re-election.

Throughout the state:

Governor: The biggest question on the ballot is whether current PA Governor Tom Wolf, a Democrat, will keep his position or lose it to Republican Scott Wagner.

Lieutenant Governor: The choices for Lieutenant Governor are Republican Jeff Bartos or Democrat John Fetterman.

US Pennsylvania Senator: Another eagerly awaited race is between incumbent Democrat Bob Casey Jr. and Republican Lou Barletta.

 

Locally:

US House of Representatives for District 15:  Republican Glenn GT Thompson is running against Democrat Susan Boser.

Pennsylvania House of Representatives for District 75:  Republican Matt Gabler runs unopposed while he is serving in the Army National Guard in the Middle East.

Pennsylvania House of Representatives for District 66:  Incumbent Republican Cris Dush runs against Democrat Kerith Strano Taylor.
