DuBois, PA – Even though this is a perfect weekend to enjoy your family, friends, and the start of summer, don’t forget the real reason for Memorial Day… our veterans who have given their lives to protect our freedom.
Mike Skehan from the DuBois Honor Guard says it’s fine to have a picnic or have fun over the weekend, but take just an hour or two to attend one of the many ceremonies to honor our vets.
Please join us at a ceremony Monday morning from 9 until 10 at the St. Catherine’s Cemetery in DuBois with the VFW.
There is also another ceremony from 11 until noon at Morningside Cemetery in DuBois by the American Legion.

It’s a small way of recognizing the freedom that we often take for granted and honoring the men and women who laid down their lives for us.
LIST OF CEREMONIES:
DuBois
Honor ceremonies will be held at both the Morningside Cemetery and at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in DuBois. The St. Catherine’s ceremony will run from 9 a.m. to approximately 10 a.m. The Morningside ceremony will run from 11 a.m. until approximately noon. Both will be aired on Connect FM (107.9 and 96.7) and online at connectradio.fm.
Punxsutawney
A Memorial Day parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Punxsy Plaza (Tractor Supply) and will end at Barclay Square.
Clearfield
An honor ceremony will be held at Crowncrest Cemetery at 10:30 a.m.
Ridgway
The ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. at the bridge for honor details with flowers being scattered into the river.
A parade will begin immediately after the bridge ceremony, which will begin at the bridge and end at the courthouse. After the ceremony at the courthouse, there will be a meal inside the fire hall. If it’s raining, the parade will immediately go from the bridge to the fire hall, skipping the courthouse.
Reynoldsville
The annual Reynoldsville War Memorial Service will be held Sunday, May 26 at 2 p.m. in front of the Reynoldsville Post Office on Main Street. If there is inclement weather, the event will be held at the Reynoldsville Eagles on Main Street.
