The DuBois/Jefferson Special Olympics organization was named the Priority First FCU Community Spotlight recipient for July.
The DuBois/Jefferson Special Olympics are a small group of volunteers who are trying to offer more opportunities to people with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics is more than just a one-day track and field event held at the local high school. They strive to help change the lives of these athletes both young and old. For each event, they need one volunteer for every four athletes. Due to the volunteer-to-athlete ratio, they can only offer three sports when there are over twenty available. They are looking for more volunteers who would love to make a difference in their community and help those individuals who benefit from the Special Olympics event. This community has so much growth potential and they would love to see more people involved in this meaningful initiative.
