DuBois, PA – DuBois Central Catholic took home the win during last night’s Junior Scholastic Challenge, but it came down to the wire!
It’s a battle of wit between local schools to see which team can answer the most questions correctly… about a wide variety of subjects!
You can see the video of the preliminary rounds, plus another video of the final rounds on our Facebook page.
DuBois, DCC, Brockway, Brookville, Clearfield, and St. Marys all competed in the Junior Challenge this year, and DuBois, DCC, Brookville, and St. Marys made it into the final rounds. At the end however, it was a tie for second place.
Although DCC came out victorious, Brookville and DuBois had to battle for their position with a fast-moving lightning round, with Brookville coming away with second, DuBois with third. St. Marys rounded out the final round with a 4th place win.

Carol Foltz, the longtime organizer of the event, says that, even though the students get prizes, most of the kids are there just to have fun and show off their skills.
Listen to the full interview with Carol, including why she loves seeing the kids compete, why the program was started, and even some examples of some questions the students might be asked.
The Senior Scholastic Challenge teams will practice on March 4, then the Senior Scholastic Challenge will be held on Thursday, March 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Penn State DuBois, Hiller Auditorium.
The challenges are open to the public and free to attend! Please come to cheer on our students and see how much they know! You’ll be impressed. They love to have a big audience.
Students will be competing from DuBois, DuBois Central Catholic, Brockway, Brookville, Clearfield, Punxsutawney, and St. Marys.
DCC won both the Junior and Senior Scholastic Challenges in 2019.
